Dear Parents:
Since 2006, Southern Adventist University has had the unique opportunity to manage a one of a kind grant that creates a local, service-oriented student labor program for academies and a scholarship program for elementary students that pairs participating students with elderly adults in their community.
Students participating in the grant-funded program perform light housecleaning and/or yard work, visit, read, play games, assist with planned facility events, along with many other responsibilities. These activities benefit the older adults with daily living and quality of life while also providing students an excellent opportunity to appreciate the value of service, foster positive mutual relationships with the elderly, and help with financing their Christian education.
The criteria which will be used by our Administration for accepting students into the program are as follows:
- Financial need,
- Passion for service,
- Desire for intergenerational relationship and has already worked to find a Senior Mentor that is a good match,
- In need of a positive relational connection.

Desde 2006, la Universidad Adventista del Sur “Southern” ha tenido la oportunidad única de administrar una subvención única que crea un programa de trabajo estudiantil local orientado a servicios para academias y un programa de becas para estudiantes de primaria que empareja a los estudiantes participantes con Ancianos Adventistas en su comunidad
Los estudiantes que participan en el programa, financiado por la subvención, realizan tareas ligeras de limpieza y / o trabajo en el jardín, visitan, leen, juegan juegos, asisten con eventos planificadas por instalaciones como hogares de ancianos, junto con muchas otras responsabilidades. Estas actividades benefician a los ancianos con la vida cotidiana y la calidad de vida, al mismo tiempo que brindan a los estudiantes una excelente oportunidad para apreciar el valor del servicio, fomentar relaciones mutuas positivas con los ancianos y ayudar a financiar su educación cristiana.
Los criterios que utilizará nuestra Administración para la aceptación de los estudiantes en el programa son los siguientes:
- Necesidad financiera,
- Pasión por el servicio,
- Deseo de la relación intergeneracional y ya ha trabajado para encontrar un Mentor o Maestro Anciano que sea un buen partido o ajuste,
- Necesita una conexión relacional positiva.
