Hello GMAA Family and welcome to a brand-new school year! I am so happy to finally be here in person and see all of you. I know it has been a difficult year for everyone, but God has been good and has protected us throughout. It has been amazing welcoming you to our school and getting to know all the new students. My door is always open for you. If you need to talk, I am here to listen. We are a family here at GMAA. We learn together, pray for each other, respect and love one other, and most importantly, as a family, we grow in Christ. Please know that you are special and loved by God, you were chosen for this time and place. God has a plan for your life, even if you don’t know it yet. Let Him lead, put your life in His hands, and watch Him do wonders! I know we will have a wonderful year. God bless all of you. Reporter: Samuel Alguera

Bold Beginnings - Why is it that new challenges scare you? Why are you afraid of change? One reason why you are scared of challenges and change is because you don’t know what is going to lay ahead in life. Challenges and change force you to grow. The trial you go through is frightening, but in the end you are stronger than before you started your challenge or change. The good news about challenges and change is that you know you are not alone while you go through them. God is with you, and as a result you can boldly say “God is my helper. I will not fear what man can do to me.” Hebrews 13:6 Reporter: Kevin Negrin
Seylanie Arrendell Our Middle School Spotlight this month focuses on Seylanie Arrendell, an 8th grader here at GMAA. Seylanie has been attending GMAA since 2nd grade and, compared to her previous school, she says that GMAA has a family dynamic that wasn’t present there. What she enjoys the most, she says, is that the workload here is much more manageable than at her previous school. However, she found that it was very difficult to make friends when she first arrived. Her favorite classes are Mrs. Ovalle’s Social Studies class, because she really loves learning about history, and Mr. Ovalle’s English class because she thinks he has an amazing sense of humor and always makes class fun. She likes going to waterparks with her friends and watching movies from the Fast and Furious franchise as well as the Maze Runner films. Seylanie’s most cherished memory at GMAA is Spirit Week, during which she enjoys being able to dress up and play games with her friends. She has a younger brother, Jordany, who is also attends GMAA and is in 7th grade. She attends Westchester Seventh-Day Adventist Church and is a member of their Pathfinder Club. In the future, she’d like to see a club at school that discusses current world events and is active in the community. Journalist: Shari-Rose Nyangoro
Mrs. Margarita Ramirez How many years have you been teaching? 15 years. What school did you come from? Dr. Toni Bilbao. How many schools have you taught in total? 4. How long have you been with you spouse? 20 years. What do you love about teaching? I love to help, inspire, and motivate students to become the best versions of themselves. What have you learned from your past experiences teaching? I've learned that teaching is not linear. We must adapt our teaching strategies to accommodate the class that God has placed in our hands. That includes prayer, learning and being a role model so that they can see God through you. Glad to have you here, Mrs. Ramirez! Welcome to GMAA, we are looking forward to having you with us. You're going to have a great year. You're very sweet and hard working. You never give up and are always thinking positive. You give great advice and always brings smiles to peoples faces. Journalist: Yasmin Ramirez
Hello everyone! It’s so awesome to finally be back in person together. For many of us, covid hit hard and eventually made us all feel anxious and ready to be back in person. As the school year begins, we are all learning to adapt to this new format of living but I hope you’re all excited to adjust to it! If you are new, allow yourself to feel welcomed in our school and never feel scared to reach out for help, as many teachers are willing to provide it. Finally, learn to make God your number one priority this school year because He will do the same for you! I hope you all have the best school year ever and remember to focus on your grades, spend time with God, and live! Journalist: Mariangelis Polanco
